We set a wedding date! It was August and we decided to make it official on the 3rd anniversary of the date we met. November 17, 2012 was the big day and I was the biggest I'd ever been. If I was ever going to find motivation to get the weight off, this was it!
My amazing fiancé (now husband) was skeptical but supportive. Luckily I'd been working a very lucrative contract and had the money to make it happen. So I signed the contract with Slim4Life (s4l), I prepaid for 52 weeks of service and committed to finally getting healthy! $599 for counseling, roughly $1500 in supplements (metabolizers, protein drinks and bars, essential fatty acids, and anything else they could sell me).
I jumped in head first. It was hard, I ain't gonna lie! But the weight started coming off. Averaging 3 lbs per week I was down 26 lbs by Oct 31st and very excited to have my wedding dress fit. Actually the dress shop owner was AMAZED that I dropped an entire dress size and luckily had the size I needed in trade for the size I ordered :)
I was very happy with my results! The journey was hard but the program really worked!
I told them when I signed up that once I got fit for my dress I didn't want to lose anymore weight until after the wedding, of course she told me no problem! But they were lying....my first glimpse behind the curtain. As anyone knows that's had professional alterations it takes time. I tried my best to cut it to the last possible moment but I had to have 2 weeks for alterations before the wedding. I obviously wanted to enjoy my honeymoon and the following week was Thanksgivng so I basically needed to take the month of Nov off the plan. The "office" said I could take 2 weeks "vacation" but my weeks would continue counting down after that. Ok.....not happy but what can you do? Plus I prepaid for a year so I had no doubt I could do it within that time.
My wedding was PERFECT! Everything I wanted. I felt like a beautiful bride should and was very satisfied with all my hard work.

So November was great! We returned after Thanksgiving and I had every intention to get back on track. I even prepped and tried! I really did...
But then it was December; Christmas parties, work pot-lucks, cookies and baking. And how do you make it through the holidays without ham??
So I skipped December too, yea I was a very bad girl.
Now I knew I would get back on track. I have a goal and finally found a not so terrible way to get there. The program isn't easy but its not hard either. I will continue my weightloss journey, but apparently I'll do it alone...because as they kindly informed me on Jan. 2 when I returned that I only have 26 weeks of weightloss and I was currently on week 20.
You see, the 52 weeks I pre-paid were apparently designated - 26 wks weightloss, 6 wks stabilization and 20 weeks of maintenance. So if I have not reached my goal by week 26 I'll have to pay more... Needless to say, I will not spend another dime with them. My husband says I'm a brat...that I took 2 months off and now I'm mad, but that's not quite accurate. I'm not mad that I voided their impossible guarantee. I'm mad I'm not getting my 52 weeks of service. The problem I have is that I paid for 52 weeks and apparently they will not counsel me for weightloss after week 26. If I don't stabilize at that time then the weeks keep counting down but I get nothing in return for the money I spent.
We'll see how it really plays out. Overall their counseling consists of reviewing my journal and putting me on a plateau break every couple of weeks. Luckily I know how to do that myself so I guess I just wasted a lot if money. If I had it to do over I wouldn't pre-pay for more than 10 weeks, then pay as needed. I probably won't need their help again until stabilization because I'm not quite sure how that process goes but I have a couple more months of weightloss before I'll be ready for that.
Iin a nutshell...the program works but don't pay them a bunch of money believing some fictional guarantee. It's very unlikely you will make it there 3x a week unless you live next door. Life gets in the way, it's just a fact and that's where they get you.
If you are motivated and ready to make a real life change I'll share everything I know here and help you if I can. Honestly I would still recommend the program just to learn the ropes. In the beginning you really do need help and guidance. But you can probably find comparable products cheaper online, besides as I previously mentioned its impossible to qualify for their "guarantee" so learn the basics and run with it.
