Ok, for those of you that are ready to take the leap this year to lose weight I commend you! It’s hard work but I’ve got to tell you I’m very happy with the results (38 lbs down to date) and I have every intention of continuing my weight loss. As mentioned in my About Me section I have been very sucessful on Slim4Life the secrets are spelled out below. Check out The Plan tab above for the general guidelines.
The basics of the plan are: high protein, metabolism booster and a low calorie diet; in order to achieve that you really need a supplement with an appetite suppressant. Basically I eat 1000-1200 calories a day including protein supplements, I'd be hungry all the time without the appetite suppressant.
The program works on a scientific level - if you stray you won't lose! It’s not cheap….however I do believe you can do it cheaper on your own than I am paying Slim4Life. I am a proponent of the program, just don't pay more than 6-10 weeks upfront. They screwed me out of a lot if money and I'd hate for the same to happen to you.
Here are the basics:
1. Drink 80 ounces of water per day (does not include water used to mix protein – 80oz must be consumed on top of that)
2. Metabolizers – you need a good metabolism booster with an appetite suppressant.
·Slim4Life – expensive but I know it works… $150 for 4-6 week supply

- Green Coffee/Green Tea/Rasberry Ketone supplement found at Walmart has been reported effective.
3. Protein supplements: You need the added protein to feel satisfied and to speed up your metabolism – 2 per day; either 2 drinks or 1 drink and 1 bar (do not eat 2 bars, too many calories)
·Slim4Life - http://s4l.slimdallas.com/Quench-Drinks_c_13.html
·Other drink options: http://bjsbariatrics.mybigcommerce.com/products/syntrax-nectar-sample-variety-pack.html – these drinks look very similar to what I pay a great deal more for at S4L…make sure whatever you get is at least 10+ grams of protein, <100 calorie and <5 carbs
·You can also use protein bars – no more than 100 calories and at least 10-20 grams of protein – you’ll be surprised at how much you look forward this little “treat” when you are on such a restricted diet. I’d probably just start out buying one at a time at the healthfood store until you find a few you like….some are NOT good at all so don’t buy a big box until you taste them! (Another negative to S4L - you can only buy them by the box and you can't return anything!)
4. EFA – Essential Fatty Acids – Omega 3, Omega 6 & Omega 9 – buy at any health food store or http://www.amazon.com/Now-Foods-Soft-gels-1200Mg-180-Count/dp/B0007O1OHW/ref=sr_1_5?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1356725993&sr=1-5&keywords=EFA these help your skin elasticize so you don’t get saggy as the weight falls off.
5. Keep a food journal! Everything you consume must be written down! I use the SlimGenics iPhone app and I understand there are a few other apps available. Having an accountability partner to review your journal may help you stay on track if you don’t do the counseling.
6. Limited diet – See The Plan tab above. Lots of chicken and green veggies, very limited starches (like 2 pieces of diet bread per day – that’s all), basically no dairy at all. You do get 2 fruits per day plus your protein supplements so you tend to eat all day long. You are just very limited on what you can eat. This was probably the most eye opening for me. Before S4L I tried to every which way to lose weight on my own…I was eating healthy but not losing. I knew carbs were my enemy so I was already limiting those, however once I cut out dairy that made a huge difference! No more Greek yogurt :(
Sample menu:
Breakfast: 1 egg veggie omelet
Snack: protein drink
Snack: small apple
Lunch: 4 ounces of chicken and broccoli
Snack: small orange
Dinner: 6 ounces of chicken and green beans
Snack: Protein bar - 7. Morton Lite Salt - 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon per day. This is the only source of potassium and you will begin to get cramps if you neglect this important addition to your diet. It also works together to create the necessary electrolytes for the program to work. I get mine in by mixing it with a green superfood powder drink, once I discovered the chocolate flavor life was much easier!
- Good luck!!! Feel free to leave a comment and I’ll try to answer any questions you have.
